Homestead of Hope

Magnolia Cottage Project

Homestead of Hope’s medium to long term goal is to own our own property which will be called ‘Magnolia Cottage”. We are saving some valuable funds towards this end. It’s vital that we have our own property as it will give us the freedom of being able to provide short to medium term, emergency accommodation and a safe space for women and children / women over 55 years who are in a difficult or crisis situation.

Medium term, we would be happy to take out a three year lease on a property with the option of a further three years. This would provide ongoing stability and enable our work to proceed without the fear of a six month lease running out leaving needy clients in the lurch. Should we be successful in obtaining a long term lease on a property, it would become ‘Magnolia Cottage’ during the time we are under lease similar to the Kiama Scout’s Hall becoming the ‘Good Shepherd Welcome Centre’ every Tuesday when we serve home cooked meals and dessert to the homeless, lonely and needy.

Our Mission and Aim

The Homestead of Hope was formed in September 2010 with a preliminary meeting at Ss Peter & Paul Parish Kiama. We commenced operation with our first official gathering February 2011.
Our Aim
  1. To encourage Christian Unity between the churches with 3 monthly gatherings fostering a closer union with God and friendship and love with each other.
  2. To support the poor, disadvantaged, marginalised, lonely and homeless in our community with free meals and friendship.
  3. To offer emergency relief accommodation to the homeless, refugees, victims of natural disaster and people in crisis situations.
  4. To offer professional services which will enhance life giving skills and foster self worth, enabling people to regain confidence in their ability to live a rewarding and fulfilling life.
